KC

Are there very many places that you would drive almost 4 hours to only stay for a couple of hours and then turn around and go back home?  A movie?  Dinner?  I have to say NO to both of those, I like staying home with three small kids I don't like to venture to far out, with that said there was one place this weekend I really wanted to take my crew to and was willing to drive 4 hours in the car knowing we would stay for a while and then drive back home that same day.  It was Kansas City.  And no it wasn't just to go to the city, Brad and I wanted to drive our boys to see the temple, its a place of worship for us that we hold sacred.  Its a place that we go and people whisper in the hallways and talk softly in general, we reflect and ponder life questions and our trials that may be going in our life at that time.  We go there to learn, and to help others.  We go there to talk to God.  Plain and simple there is no other place that I have been to in my life that reverence and peace has been felt so strongly.  Its a place that I want my own personal home to reflect and emulate.
So I know what you are thinking why on earth would you take your two young rowdy boys there???  They are not going to be quiet and peaceful why, why would you do this???
I will tell you the same thing I told them, I am taking you there so that you may feel how your father and I feel when we go, you may not understand it all now, or what each room means.  They may not even remember what the rooms looked like next week or next month, but I hoped they would remember the feeling that they had while walking the hallowed halls and see the smiling faces of all those people there checking it out, remember the happiness.  Giving my boys an experience of feeling good feelings and knowing where they can go to find them is a lesson I will gladly drive 4 hours to get to, because one day they will need to know the difference between good feelings and bad. They need to know how and when to listen to them, life is rough and I want them to be prepared, plain and simple.

So how did it go?  Great!  They were their rowdy self's but had a great time!

These are the best pictures but glad we tried to get them.  The picture below is the boys being nijia masters its how they wanted to be inside.  I told them nope they needed to be calm and reverent.

So this is more of the look we were going for!
And just because I think they are sooo cute together, Daddy and daughter!

I think you're positively enlightened! Taking your kids to the temple - you did that when you were here too, last summer. I've got the pics to prove it. Good job, even though gas prices are high and it takes time and the kids can be rowdy, you did the right thing! Love you, MISS you! :)
