Date night.

Brad and I kind of celebrated his birthday all month long. He wanted to see a movie called the Adjustment Bureau, so we did that the weekend of his birthday. It was good, we had not been to the movies in a while and the plot of the movie was one I had never thought of before, so it was entertaining to watch.
The next weekend he really wanted to play cards with our good friends John,Shannon,April and Tommy. He and John wanted to take The Great Dalmuti card game to a whole new level. Its a card game where there is a cast system, each player has a "role" peons are the lowest, merchants are the middle level and two Dalmuti's one is a lesser and the other The Great Dalmuti reign supreme. We play a hand and try and get rid of our cards and who ever can get rid of them first is the Great Dalmuti, well Brad and John were joking about how we should play with dinner one night have different kinds of food for peons, merchants and Dalmuti's! So that was my second present to him I came up with a menu that they both approved of and we let the games begin.
We also had seating arrangements, peons had to sit on the floor!! And the Dalmuti's got a soft recliner each while the merchants shared the couch. It was really fun to play out. Shannon who is unfortunately not the best at strategy of the game was with me as a peon at the beginning of the game. We drank water and served everyone else their drinks, lemonade, soda and sparkling grape juice in a wine goblet for The Great Dalmuti (John). Tommy and April had never played this game before but loved this idea and a good night was had by all.
April was a little hesitant at first because they didn't know the game and so I was hoping she wouldn't be eating water, popcorn and tic tac's all night. But on the last round she won the hand and became the great Dalmuti!
Brad and Tommy being the Dalmuti's and loving it! I think that there is a campaign going on to make it a monthly date, anyone want to join us?
We finished off the month by going out to eat at a fancy smancy steak house, Ruth's Chris Stake house. We had heard rumors from many friends that it was suppose to be great and it was! I had made a reservation and they asked if there was a special reason for coming in and I told them we were celebrating Brad's birthday, they were so nice about it. They took happy birthday confetti and sprinkled it all around our table and gave him a free desert. I liked it there and the food was excellent! The server was soooo polite and every need was taken care of. Happy Birthday to my husband!!

Ah, I didn't know you went to Ruth's Chris!! So jealous! I could have came along and helped co-celebrate Brad's birthday! I love that place!! Sadly, the price of the food makes it a rare outing for us. One day I hope to visit again! I must save my wifely allowance I suppose. ;-)
