The Ice Storm....

This week was storm week here in Bentonville. We prepared by making sure we had everything we would need for the week. It was a good time for us to look through our 72 hour kits and make sure we had flash lights and batteries (which we didn't). The news kept saying its going to be ice and then snow. And man on man they were right! At first we thought everyone might be getting excited over nothing considering it does not snow much here.........but I'm glad we listened to the warnings and had our supply. And more grateful that we didn't lose power as some did. This is the ice that was outside our front door! After two days......

Brady trying to touch them....of course not caring his hands would freeze off!

This is to show how long they were......I could easily reach out and touch the ice sickles. Which, after these pictures, we knocked down. Brady LOVED it (picture him laughing with excitement here). And this is mostly due to the fact that our house doesn't have gutters.....yeah I know random, who does not have gutters? Here in Arkansas people do not automatically put them on a house when they are built. Its like a little added bonus if you buy a house with them. And yes Dad its on our list of things to do to the house.......I was going to wait until March after the cold, but before the spring rains.

I'm glad you were prepared. Those icicles are huge, and beautiful. I wish I could have been there to help smash them. I love knocking down ice.

That's beautiful and scary all at once. It reminds of the movie A Christmas Story where she says "those icicles have been known to kill people." So glad you kept power and got to enjoy a little winter wonderland.
