End of the School Year

In April Brady's class went on a field trip, to a one room school house.  It rained that day and was 50 degrees out side.  It felt freezing!  I felt bad for them because they usually got to take a lunch, and do games outside, not this time, it was a down pour!  The teacher there talked all about how kids lived "way back a long time ago...." I was able to have friends watch Garrett and Jillian and go with him.  He had a good time despite the weather.  They sat at desks and had little chalk tablets and books that were used a long time ago.
Do their "lessons" for school.
The teacher telling the kids about the dunce cap and how that was the worst punishment that you could get because you'd have the teacher walk you home afterward and talk to the parents about your behavior.  Brady loved that he got picked to wear it and show the kids....
Brady also while learning about pioneers taught us one night how to make butter.  I took a video in parts and then put it all together to make one long video.  Its 6:00 minutes long so no pressure to watch it....but I put it on for family who live far away.

Brady had an awesome teacher this past year her name was Mrs. Gunter, she really worked hard with the kids and I think Brady learned a ton from her.
Each month the school has an assembly that takes place where different announcements and speakers come to talk to the kids.  Each teacher has a child that they pick for an award, is called "Head of the Heard".  There are only 9 months in the school year so not every child is picked in the class.  The last month of school his teacher picked him to get the award.  She wrote a discription as to why she thought he was head of the class.  She said "He has worked so hard this year on his reading and has become an amazing author. I am so proud of him!" He didn't know he was going to get the award so it was fun to watch him get it, and he stood up there so proud of himself.  School this year was awesome and he is already looking forward for it to start again in August.

Garrett has also had some exciting times this spring, he is officially a preschool graduate!  He went to Creation Corner in town and had a good time there were 4-5 other kids that he knew going there which he really liked.  They had a graduation that was so entertaining to watch.  They dressed up in bright shirts and glasses and preformed some songs, Garrett was not paying hardly any attention at all.  The little girl next time him at one point pulled her shirt over her head and started spinning around.  I was cracking up.

They they all went into the back and put on their graduation gowns and caps and marched back in chanting something I couldn't really understand that well.  Each kid got to go up when their name was called and get their "diploma".  He had a great time, and afterwards got to eat some cookies, have punch.  So he was one happy camper.
Garrett with two friends from church, they looked so cute!

Here is a quick video of them marching in and him getting the diploma, he was so excited he had to leap off the stage!

The end of the school year is always so busy and exciting, now Garrett is going to be heading into Kindergarten!  Whoa its such a change for him, while Brady tackles second grade and can show him the ropes now that they are in the same school.  Willowbrook Elementary here we come!
