Our family is like others we have ups and downs this last month when we won a free picture taking session with the fabulous Britney Roark I was stoked that was the up; the actual session was the down. We found a day and a spot when the trees were the perfect shades of orange, red, and browns. The temperature was cold, very cold but we knew it so we came prepared, with hot chocolate, blankets, hot hand packs to heat up and coats to keep us warm. The sun was coming up and it was time, but my kids decided it was not time. They weren't going to look or smile. Grrrr....frustration was mounting quickly and poor Britney couldn't hardly get the kids to look at her. She is amazing and was so patient and kind about it, I other hand was ready to divorce my whole clan, didn't they get what a great opportunity this was?! No. No they didn't they are 10 months, 4 and 6 and half years old. They don't get it nor did they care to, so we packed it up and called it quits. Britney was so sweet and offered to redo the shoot in the spring again for us since she only got 10 photos. And out of the ten Garrett was in 3 of them, he had the worst melt down and no consoling him was going to work.
So spring it is, maybe we can get some by some cute flowers, and the smell of fresh air after a long winter season will make them have a better attitude and smile. One can only hope. As for me I have to do what my husband says and "Lower my expectations" after this session they were annihilated and any picture we get in the future will be one of mercy and gratitude will be the only feeling I am going to try and walk away with. Here are the ones that she got, she put them in black and white too!
The baby did the best actually; she is so sober we weren't sure we'd get anything out of her but like I said Britney is a miracle worker.
Don't let this one fool ya, at this point all three kids were crying and screaming a hiker came by and asked me if it was a pack of hyena's.
A big thanks to Britney for giving it a go and an ever bigger thank you for dealing with us again the in spring!

Sorry Dana, but this made me chuckle. Oh those boys! I love them so much, but can totally envision this photo shoot. The ones she got are so good though! And Jilly's side pony...stop it!!
