Our second son had a birthday on July 10th, which he has looked forward to since July 11th of last year. I swear the planning that goes on in his head it takes a full year to plan what kind of cake he is going have. And it changes like the weather, so I don't plan far ahead because I know he will change his mind in the blink of an eye. Its been a hot summer and July 10th was no exception, we have been in sever drought conditions so I thought we could kill two birds with one stone and have a water party in our back yard.
Garrett invited a few friends over to share in the fun of water, cake and ice cream. Aren't they all so cute? Best buds.....
Then we got the water balloons out and they really started to have fun, who doesn't like throwing water balloons at each other!?
We decided to see what would happen if they kicked it at the same time, just an FYI you get wet!
We dried off and then headed inside for some cake and ice cream. Garrett at first wanted me to make some kind of Super Mario Brothers cake but I couldn't find any figures of the Mario Brothers to put on the cake. So off to the store we went and low and behold he changed his mind when he saw the angry bird cake. Such a fickle four year old, but what ever makes him happy!
We'd tell him Happy Birthday you are four years old and he'd say "No not yet, I"m not four yet." And when we asked when he'd be four he said, "When I blow out the candle, then I'm four." So he was content to wait all day, have dinner, fun with friends that night and then blow out the candle to really be four years old. I just love him do death he's so sweet.
Four things you should know about Garrett
1. He loves to play video games and be with his brother/friends. Always wants a play date- loves people.
2. Gum......its his thing lately. He will save his money just to go to the store and buy a 25 cent gum ball and is so happy about it. Doesn't take much to please him. As I wrote this he came in and asked for a piece.
3. I love the way he talks, sometimes he can't pronounce the word right but in his head he hears it right. Kids are so cute when they say things wrong. Brad likes to tease him about it.
4. He is really has come into his own, he use to be so shy and cry when I'd leave him but now he has more confidence, loves other people and is really tough. When he is wrestling around with his brother he says "If your gonna be rough, you gotta be tough!" So he doesn't come crying to much to me about things.
Happy Birthday Garrett the Carrot! We love ya!
