Have you ever had a moment over something that others might find odd? I do this with some random things and my husband always laughs at me. When I graduated from Ricks College with my Associates degree my parents and grandparents bought me a brand new computer. I was so surprised but also so happy I knew it would come in handy while I got my bachelors degree. I kept that thing for years even after it got slow and newer models came out, in computer years it was very old but I wanted to hang on. I met Brad and we married and he refused to use it after a couple of years because it was so slow! When I finally decided it was OK to get rid of it I had a moment of silence for that thing. It just represented that I finished my degree and that my parents and grandparents were proud of me. Yes I know kind of silly.
So you can imagine when I graduated from Utah State a few years later and my parents bought me a car. Whoa first off who gets a car?! I'm spoiled I know, I had driven my previous car all through high school and college and it was awesome- my 1989 Toyota Camry, never gave me huge issues and got me where I needed to go. So flash forward a decade or so in 2003 when I graduated I sold my little car and got a 2002 Chrysler Sebring the "family sedan". Not the hippest car for a college girl but I loved it, and Brad and I were engaged and so happy that we weren't going to have to worry old car troubles for a long time.
So again flash forward to now 2011 our car was going strong and we were planning on keeping it for a year more till Brad would get his "new baby". Then last week we had freak ice on the road and this happened on the way to work......
Gratefully Brad just dropped off Brady from school so he was not in the car. I think it would have freaked Brady out. But all the transmission fluid came pouring out and so it wasn't looking good for us.
I was heart broken my car was gone according to the insurance company the transmission and engine were to messed up to fix so they just cut us a check for the worth of the car. Well what they thought the worth of the car was, so me it was so much more! Sigh.....again I know the sentiment comes out. So days later we had to go and get Brad something to drive. He fell in love with his own baby and so this year for Christmas we both get babies.............here is our latest addition to the family.
Its a Nissan Altima, we have yet to name him.....we have problems when it comes to naming our baby's.
The boys were super excited about a new car and after being so good for us while we signed our papers we took them to see Santa Clause! They were really excited, but right before it was our turn Garrett started to back away and tell me in this small voice, " I don't want to see him." I knew he'd get nervous, so we gave him a pep talk about being brave and that Brady would be there with him. He asked if we'd walk up there with him and we said we would. It was so cute Brady held his hand when they walked up and Brad walked behind them. I stood back to get a picture of them. They didn't turn out great........so disappointed. But they had a good time, they both told him what they wanted and they got candy, a coloring book, and sticker from him. Plus we ran into two of our friends from church there as well, so it was a huge party.
I love this one of Garrettt looking at him, he's being so brave! They have asked to go back and see him again, they are super excited for Christmas. Can't wait until the big day so they can see what he brought them.

Oh Dana, yeah... about your computer (of old) and the car and the babies and your boys and Santa. Can't wait for Christmas for all of us!
I think Brad did it on purpose...
I know how you feel about the car. I am just impressed that Brad got it up on the rail! Love the Santa pictures too :)
