Off on a Road Trip

About a month ago my sweet husband say's to me, "Your birthday I've got it covered." Hummmmmm I didn't know what that meant but I like the way it sounded. Then he tells me after he made all the preparations that my parents were coming into town and watching the kids and then we were taking off for the weekend! Yee Haw! I was so excited! Where were we going I wondered, and then he told me Nauvoo Il. Yup, I know its not Hawaii or New York but you have to understand its significance and why I loved the idea. Nauvoo is a place of our church history, where the people lived before they were driven out to the west. Not far from there is where our Prophet Joseph Smith was killed by a mob. I had never seen the jail (that still stands) or the city he lived in before he was killed. I was just telling my friend that very day, we live with in driving distance we need to go there. Great minds think alike.
So now here it is my birthday weekend and we have just landed in Keokuk Iowa. Its across the river from Nauvoo IL. And I have never stepped foot in the state of Iowa, but I can now add it to my list of states that I have visited. It was a really pretty drive and we are excited to do......well nothing tonight. Really we have no plans but to relax and do nothing but talk, eat, and hang out. Then with excitement I told Brad we should get a movie, one we want to watch! I know life gets exciting when you have free reign to choose what movie you want to watch that isn't animated or have trains, pirates or mickey mouse in it. But this is why the weekend is so awesome it can be all about us!
See us we aren't doing a dang thing, at the hotel. Just relaxing, are you jealous yet?
Then I realized we could catch up on our movie watching and watch a movie a night if we wanted to, what the heck lets throw caution to the wind and get crazy. Can't wait to see the sites tomorrow, thanks dear your the best!

Keokuk is quite the extravagant city isn't it? It sounds like something one would step in when walking through a field. Glad to hear you are having a blast! Nauvoo is great-I think you'll love it. I totally stayed at that same hotel last time I went - it's nice! Enjoy and Happy Birthday!
