Down and Out

Our family has been sick these past few days so sorry about a delay for posting.......to anyone who happens to lurk here when bored. Getting Strep throat will do that to a lady and its the one sickness that flattens me to the core and I can't even stand. I even get a "you don't look so good" from the dear husband.
Anyway not much has gone on anyway but I'll try and fill ya in. Last Thursday a cat showed up on our door step. Just meowed and meowed until Brady was dying to go see it. It still looked young and so I let him just for a second. Oh it was love at first sight. He wanted to keep the cat, I had the unfortunate experience of telling him no. "Its not ours, and someone might be looking for him." Not to mention Brad is allergic to cats and Garrett is terrified of all animals (not sure what that is about). But he wanted this cat, he's trying to lay down next to it in the above photo. So seeing that if I didn't try and find the owner quick we'd be a cat family, I set off to the neighbors I hardly know and asked them if they were missing a cat. The cat followed us over and they answered with a dog. Nope. No luck. On the way back Brady asked the cat, "Cat what is your name?, Cat! What is your name?" Then stopped and looked up at me and said, "Mom his name is Cade." Huh? Do I have a cat whisper on my hands?! Grrrrrrate. All day he refered to the cat as Cade.
Well to finally make the cat go away, he stayed on our doorstep for hours, I started mowing the lawn. Later that night my friend Cory and I were driving in her car and I saw a cat in the middle of the road, dead. Gulp, she quietly asks, did it have white in its chest? I nodded sadly, we haven't seen Cade since, but I never wanted the poor thing dead. Now I'll forever have this guilt that I somehow caused this poor cats life to end short. And the happy face below would never forgive me if he ever found out.
This past Saturday the day before sickness flattened our family Brad and Brady went to the Demolition Derby with some good friends. I stayed home with Garrett who had some kind of cold coming on and didn't want to keep out late. Boy am I glad I did. Those two men had a great time staying out till 11:00 watching "Cars crash" as Brady put it. And the purple car won, he kept telling me over and over. They drank lemonade, had funnel cake and I think Gavin and Brady were the happiest 3 year old boys on planet earth that night. The next night how ever at 6:30 p.m. this is what the hang-over looked like. Fell asleep eating pancakes. At this point I was the in the same state in my bed with chills, fever, and many other forms of pain, so Brad captured this moment and took the little man to bed.

As we have been recovering Popsicles are the one thing that makes my throat numb so we've been eating them. Garrett loves it- wants to hold them all by him self lets the sugar drip from his arm and doesn't even care to lick it off. Just wants to bite the biggest piece off he can chew and has finished them before most people have gotten their wrappers off.

Brady is more of a licker, and a slow one at that, can't seem to understand why they melt on him? "Its melting, its melting!" He will yell and I tell him, Then put it in your mouth and eat it!

Over all we are recovering....and then today Brad came home from work saying he wasn't feeling well. I hope its not what I had but more of the colds the boys have had. I stayed in bed for 2 days and was quarantined from them to keep the sickness at bay, but Brad was kind enough to sleep in the same bed as me even while in a feverish state to make sure I didn't pass away. I sure hope his effort in sacrifice does not come to a throat so sore you want to ripe out your tonsils and what ever else is back there red and on fire.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Sorry about the dead cat - I don't care for them either but I'm with you - I'd never wish them dead. Hopefully Brady never found out. You have had quite the busy week!

Oh, welcome back to the land of the living. Step in the summer, who knew? As for Cade, you did your best and Brady never has to know the end results, right?
Crashing cars and funnel cakes, sounds like testosterone heaven! Sleeping in pancakes, probably not he first hungover guy to end up with syrup spiked hair.

Dana, how can I look and look and nothing for a while, then two days (has it been?) and boom - you have a new post and 6 comments! What a great and dreadful week you've had. SO so sorry that Cade maybe died. . . don't tell Brady. The boys are growing and cute and I'm sure an armful. Strep, Dana? UGH! Hope you're all the way better, and Brad doesn't get sick. Much love, Mom/Nat

Well . . . bummer! About the sickness AND the unfortunate cat. I think that the sickest I've ever been in my life was with strep .. . I seriously came close to having an out of body experience! I'm glad that you're feeling better and hope that Brad doesn't end up flat out. Love ya, Sandra
