My two front teeth

Our oldest son, Brady is 6 and half years old, he has yet to loose a tooth on his own.  He has seen others in his kindergarten class and first grade loose teeth and he still has yearned for the day that he can pluck one of his own pearly whites and stick it under his pillow for some coins.  One day,at church and he was telling his teacher he still hasn't lost a tooth when she said, "Oh I see your bottom two teeth are coming in behind the front two."  I was totally surprised to see that she was right his bottom two were these big bumps under the skin just about to break through, so I went to our dentist website and found instructions to try for two weeks to get them out and if they don't budge to call and they can pull those bad boys out.  So that is exactly what we did....and they never budged. They broke the skin and I could see they were not coming in straight which worried me that if we didn't get the others out they might mess up his pretty little smile.  So we made the appointment to get them pulled.  He was super excited to finally lose some teeth and the night before we took this "Before" picture.  Unfortunately he looks well um....crazy.

The next day I told him not to tell his class mates where he was going and when I dropped him off at school he could surprise them.  He thought it was a great idea but said he had to tell someone and said he knew of only one girl that he could trust to keep his secret.  Its so hard to control his excitement glad he has someone he can trust to confide in.  When I came to get him you would have thought he had won the lottery, he came bouncing into the office happy as could be.  We went over and the process was quick, there was still roots on the teeth so they had to give him "happy gas" to help with pain.  I managed to take a picture of him with the mask on.....from my phone so excuse the quality.

He kept saying my body feels weird, and that he was tired.  Then he went on some rant about Tom and Jerry because that was what was playing on the t.v. in the ceiling he was watching.  I had no idea what he was talking about but knew he wasn't going to feel a thing, which is a good thing after I saw the needle they were going to stick him with.  I almost passed out when I saw how big it was, they say they never show the kids which makes complete sense I wouldn't want someone near me with that thing. Anyway after that he takes these things that no lie look like pliers and just pulls the theeth out quick as can be.  No fuss no muss.  And he is done!  His new look.....

We celebrated by going on over to Steak and Shake and grabbing some lunch.  He was super excited to get back to school and ask his class mates "Is there something different about me?"  See if they could guess. All in all it was painless and positive, love the doc's and nurses and happy that his new teeth will have room to grow.  That night he put them by the bed and was super excited that the tooth fairy showed up and left him a dollar for two teeth!
